THE SANDS OF
CHRISTMAS

I had no Christmas spirit when I
breathed a weary sigh,

and looked across the table
where the bills were piled too high.

The laundry wasn't finished and
the car I had to fix,

My stocks were down another
point, the Chargers lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my
son got home from school

I gave up on the drudgery and
grabbed a wooden stool.

The burdens that I carried were
about all I could take,

and so I flipped the TV on to
catch a little break.

I came upon a desert scene in
shades of tan and rust,

No snowflakes hung upon the
wind, just clouds of swirling dust.

And where the reindeer should
have stood before a laden sleigh,

eight Humvees ran a column right
behind an M1A.

A group of boys walked past the
tank, not one was past his teens,

Their eyes were hard as polished
flint, their faces drawn and lean.

They walked the street in armor
with their rifles shouldered tight,

their dearest wish for
Christmas, just to have a silent night.

Other soldiers gathered,
hunkered down against the wind,

To share a scrap of mail and
dreams of going home again.

There wasn't much at all to put
their lonely hearts at ease,

They had no Christmas turkey,
just a pack of MREs.

They didn't have a garland or a
stocking I could see,

They didn't need an
ornament--they lacked a Christmas tree.

They didn't have a present even
though it was tradition,

the only boxes I could see were
labeled "ammunition."

I felt a little tug and found my
son now by my side,

He asked me what it was I
feared, and why it was I cried.

I swept him up into my arms and
held him oh so near

and kissed him on the forehead
as I whispered in his ear.

There's nothing wrong my little
son, for safe we sleep tonight,

our heroes stand on foreign land
to give us all the right,

to worry on the things in life
that mean nothing at all,

instead of wondering if we will

and said it's always right,

to thank the ones who help us
and perhaps that we should write.

And so we pushed aside the bills
and sat to draft a note,

The NEW School Prayer

are not
allowed in most public schools anymore
Because the word "God" is
mentioned.... a kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer.

Now I sit me down in school

attacked Condi Rice was disgusting. I thought we had laws against racism. They
attack her because she is successful or because she is Republican. Where is the

her great achievments really turns my stomach. She is the first Black Women

do this. If any hint of voter intimidation occurs, this is definately the thing

Sinclair Broadcasting is going to run a Documentary about John Kerry's anti-Vietnam War protests "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal". This seems fair considering the media hype and Political credibility given to Michael Moore's Farenheit 911. (In my opinion)

What I find scary is the unveiled threat from the Kerry campaign, where are we living Moscow, this is what Stalin did to the USSR Media. This really bothers me.

A friend of mine sent me this and it seemed appropriate.

OBITUARY

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old
boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teach! er fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only ! worsened! his condition.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two step siblings, My Rights and Ima Whiner.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

His "Documentarys" should be called docudramas, he plays with quotes, cuts and chops as needed to fit his personal agenda.

His out of context piecing together of facts is outrageous and the fact that he puts his "Facts" together with intentional disregard for the correct chronological order of events makes his "Documentarys" Crockumentarys, I can not believe it is legal to do this legally.

He did this with "Bowling at Columbine and most recently with "Farenheit 911".

I guess that when you are an "Artist?" you can do whatever you want.

I have no objection to his choices however, it should not be presented as a factual account of what happened in either case I'm mentioning here. American Olympians Told to hold down Celebrations!

Our Atheletes, kids that have worked their entire lives for this moment have been asked to tone down celebrations if they win. They should not wave flags or chant USA, USA because it may offend someone. (France, Germany??) Who cares what other countries think, we would NEVER ask them to do this to their Athletes.

Parental Notification for Teen Abortion?

First please understand that this post has nothing to do with abortion being right or wrong, I want to discuss a separate issue, Parental knowledge of their child’s medical treatment. God forbid there are complications and the child is in danger without the parent’s knowledge.

It seems odd to me that Parents, the responsible parties for their children, cannot legally be notified when their daughters are having a major medical procedure. The schools can't even dispense aspirin for a headache but this can be done no matter how young the child is.

I understand that there are bad parents and cases of rape and incest where notification could be an issue. These cases should be prosecuted! I believe however (and maybe I'm naive) that the vast majority of parents would do the right thing for their children.

The psychological impact of an abortion is traumatic even for many adults; it just seems to me that a child going through this should have parental support and love. Kids just don't want to get in trouble in most cases and don't want their parents to know they are having sex. Ultimately the parents are responsible.

I'm looking for feedback from women on this one. I am very curious if women feel the same as I do on this issue and if not, the reasoning.

The first step to protecting the country should be stopping the terrorists at the border.

We should know where all foreigners are in the country at all times. I don't care if they are from England, Russia or Iran, If we find them where thay are not supposed to be, send them home immediately. Other countries don't allow the type of freedom we do and in times like these, we should tighten up our internal security.

This problem is the fault of both parties in our government and we should demand action. Checking American Citezens at the Airport is not the solution. There may be some traitors in the country but, the vast majority of the terrorists are foreigners and passports are easy to get in other countries.

John Kerry claims that his Viet Nam experience qualifies him for President. Is this really true, it seems odd to me that only one or two of the people he served with support him openly, while the majority think he is unqualified.

His record in the Senate shows that he takes both sides of most issues and doesn't seem to stand for anything. I don't believe that he would be the correct leader in these troubled, dangerous times.

We need a man that can make hard decisions and do what is best for America regardless of world opinion or political reprocussions.
